DG.net site temporarily on hold

By: Nethervoid 19:26, 2 January 2012 (UTC)

The site is temporarily on hold while we get the YouTube channel fully up to speed. Once the YouTube channel is up to speed I plan on morphing the site to help support the channel instead of the other way around as was first envisioned. Also the forums have been locked for any new users. The forums will come back up when the site gets its overhaul.

Site Update: Dofus!

By: Nethervoid 05:54, 2 October 2011 (UTC)

Dofus

  • Lots of videos added
  • Boss template
  • Room template
  • Changes to dungeon template
  • Canidae Dungeon added

Dragon Nest

  • Lots of videos added
  • Dungeon list updated
  • Gale Woods Temple dungeon updated

Currently the main work is going toward finishing the Dofus templates. All that's left are the item and set templates. After that I'll take one last look at the templates to make sure they're complete.

After the Dofus templates are done, I need to finish up with the Dragon Nest templates.

This Week: Dragon Nest Item Template Done! Finally!

By: Nethervoid 14:55, 6 September 2011 (UTC)

Lots of action on the site this week.

Vanguard

  • No new content

Dofus

  • Added video: Sand Dungeon Part 1

Dragon Nest

  • Finished Item Template!
  • Finished main category pages
  • Added video: 2 More newbie dungeons

Really excited this week about finishing the Dragon Nest item template. Took me about 2 weeks to finish that thing. It's insane. It should handle just about every droppable item. As for templates I only have to finish the quest, mob, and item links, and the templates will be complete. Content can begin to be added at that point, while I finish up the item category by adding more fine tuned search capability there.

Once Dragon Nest is up and running, I'll finish up the Dofus templates!

This Week: Dragon Nest Infrastructure & YouTube Split / New Movies

By: Nethervoid 00:35, 31 August 2011 (UTC)

Lots of action on the site this week.

Vanguard

  • Added video: Isle of Dawn Dungeon Part 1

Dofus

  • Added video: Field Dungeon

Dragon Nest

  • Added Main Wiki Page
  • Added Dungeons Category
  • Added 2 Dungeons
  • Added many new templates

Misc.

  • Split YouTube channel
    • Main channel exclusively for DG.net game content
    • Aux channel for all other games

Dragon Nest infrastructure is coming close to being done. After it's done, work will resume on the Dofus infrastructure. Finally, there should be consistent updates on all three of these games after the infrastructure for the new games is complete.

More coming!

This Week: Dofus Infrastructure & Vanguard Updates

By: Nethervoid 06:53, 22 Aug 2011 (UTC)

Lots of action on the site this week.

Vanguard

  • Added Old Targonor Page and Entrance
  • Moved Blood Seeker Den to Lost Dungeons page (Finally figured out it was closed shortly after release)

Just one more dungeon to find, and the list of entrances is complete!

Dofus

  • Added list of Dungeons
  • Created Dofus Dungeon Template
  • Created Dofus Area Template
  • Created Dofus QuestLink Template
  • Added Incarnam Dungeon Page
  • Added Incarnam Area
  • Finalized Dofus Tiers and Created Dofus Content Categories

Lots done, but lots of infrastrucure yet to build!

Misc.

  • Split the Vanguard and Dofus Standards and Templates pages to make it easier for everyone to figure out exactly which templates to use where.

We've also decided to focus the content of our YouTube channel on the dungeon content of the games on this site. Until now it's been more about World of Tanks and Minecraft than it has Vanguard and Dofus. We're changing that. From now on it should only contain videos of the games we cover here on the site. We're also planning on linking the dungeon videos we do to the pages here on the wiki. In the videos we'll be talking about the strategy of the dungeon, boss weaknesses, etc. Should be very helpful.

Stay tuned!

Vanguard Updates! + Misc.

By: Nethervoid 01:14, 16 Aug 2011 (UTC)

  • Added Pantheon of the Ancients
  • Velerium Mines: Entrance Found!
    • Dungeon page added
    • Entrance screen and X map added
    • 2 mobs added - Lissassi - Meskiik
  • Added categories for all Tier 6 items

  • Changed game wiki front page layout
  • Added dungeon list links in sidebar for convenience
  • Added Diablo III wiki

My wife and I are subbing to VG where I'll continue to update the wiki here. Andrewpunk is also going to be updating VG as well as Dofus. Now we just need to get some users updating the wikis, and the site will be even more beneficial than it currently is.

More to come shortly!

Site Split and Other Misc. Additions

By: Nethervoid 15:14, 11 Aug 2011 (UTC)

I've now split the site to handle both Vanguard and Dofus, as can be seen on the navigation bar (hit ctrl+F5 to refresh your page cache). Vanguard updates and additions should be just as easy as ever, but the Dofus piece is still being developed. The major change will be the addition of a game handle to each category and template for non-Vanguard games (e.g. Category:Dungeons for Vanguard is Category:Dofus Dungeons for Dofus).

I've also added Tier 6 to Vanguard to handle levels 51-55 content. I've moved Ancient Port Warehouse to Tier 6. I'm not sure if it will be expanded to 51-60 if the devs do a level cap increase in the future. Might be more appropriate to add a 56-60 tier. I still need to do some work adding Tier 6 categories to the items page. ... Also, need to add Pantheon of the Ancients. Wow. I have more work than I thought!

Also, I'm beefing up the Wiki Development / Help Center. Click the link on the navigation bar. Adding these help links and better explainations of templates should help the editing process for those who are new to editing wikis or just new to editing Dungeonguru.net.

Enjoy!

Site Unlocked for User Editing!

By: Nethervoid 17:19, 5 Aug 2011 (UTC)

Awesome news! For the most part the wiki is now open to user account creation and edits! I still have a couple of sections to unlock, but for the most part the dungeon, quest, and item areas are ready for additions and edits!

If you're so inclined, please create an account, and you too can start updating the site! One thing to note is the email sent from this site for confirmation can take some time so please be patient. You will need to confirm your email before the wiki will allow you to edit/add.

As far as editing / adding content, I just ask that you remember two things:

1. This site is for dungeon information only. Please only list dungeon related quests on the appropriate dungeon page along with dungeon specific items (from quests, unique drops, or bosses).

2. We have templates set up for just about every object you want to add to the site: dungeon templates, item templates, quest templates, mob templates, and more. If you want to add a page, please copy and paste from an already created similar page to get the template code. I'll also be putting up a page on the sidebar there to the left to help with learning how to use templates and general editing.

I'll be monitoring everything to make sure the site stays under control as far as format, etc.

Pretty exciting! Can't wait to see this thing really take off again!

News on Site Update

By: Nethervoid 23:46, 29 July 2011 (UTC)

The site upgrade is going fairly well for me being a Microsoft guy working on Linux, PHP, and all things... not Microsoft. The PHP and Mediawiki updates are done. The only software I have left to update is the forums. It's going fairly well, but there are a couple snags as can be seen. Again the site may go down unexpectedly for a day or two if I hit any real problems.

The YouTube channel is up and running with a couple videos. It took me a few days to get the hang of encoding Fraps into something I can publish, even at 480p! I have a bit more work there to get more crispness out of my movies.

After the forums are complete, I'll get started on adding in the group permissions, so I can open up the site for user updates! I'm kind of excited about that, and worried at the same time. Should be interesting!

Finally the last change will be to start the process of changing this site into something that can hold multiple games. That's when the real fun begins! Stay tuned!

Lastly, if anyone is having problems signing up for the forums, as in you've sent a request for an account and I never reply, please email us at dungeonguru.net at gmail.

Site Changes

By: Nethervoid 15:12, 23 July 2011 (UTC)

The site is going through a lot of extensive changes:

Parts of the site may be down or look odd during our upgrade process.

  • Mediawiki software upgrade
  • Adding permissions groups to allow user updating of the site
  • Expanding the site to allow the addition of other games
  • Adding a second game to the site
  • Adding a YouTube channel

It was always envisioned to somehow give users the power to edit the site, while at the same time preserving some kind of order in page structure, etc. The current version of Mediawiki running Dungeonguru.net doesn't allow for any kind of permissions groups, so the dream stayed a dream. BUT! A newer version of Mediawiki offers this kind of permissions, so I'll be able to add groups and users, so users can add to the content we started so long ago now.

These changes to the site may incur some downtime. Sorry for any inconvenience!

The second big change of transforming Dungeonguru.net into a mutli-game site is going to be an arduous task, mainly because the whole site is geared toward everything Vanguard right now. So I'll have to change up a few things, add templates, etc. The current idea is to add the game Dofus (wikipedia) (Official). For those who have never heard of this game, Dofus is a F2P/P2P mix between an RPG and Final Fantasy Tactics. It's got a pretty large feature list, and has been around awhile. Try it. Pretty fun! (If you have some other idea of a great game to cover on DG.net instead, please post it on the forum thread below!)

Lastly, I'll be adding a YouTube channel to the mix. The plan is to add some 'Let's play' (a sort of tutorial) and game play videos. Should be interesting.

Site Re-opened!

By: Nethervoid 02:12, 23 January 2011 (UTC)

I've re-opened the site. I thought I had lost the site forever when I let the domain expire, but I had actually still been paying for the hosting. I re-upped the domain and reconnected to the host, and BAM! site back! Enjoy!

Unfortunately I won't be adding any new content to the site for now, and I'm not sure it will ever grow. But still there is a lot of information contained here (although possibly outdated), and so it should help those still playing the game.

An archive of site news can be found here.

What exactly is Dungeonguru.net?

Dungeonguru.net is

Dungeonguru.net is a site primarily designed to:

  • Clear up conflicting information on dungeon quests
  • Increase community knowledge of dungeon locations and content
  • Help inform players of different gearing options

Dungeonguru.net is not

  • An item database
  • A quest database
  • An atlas site
  • A strategy site
  • An open wiki editable by users

While Dungeonguru.net has lists of boss mobs, gear drops, dungeon quests, and maps, its primary purpose is to increase the awareness of the community on their choices of dungeons at specific levels, how to get to those dungeons and to give them a list of activities available at each dungeon. There are many places on the net for complete lists of information on items, quests, maps etc. Our intent is not to be everything to everyone. Where possible, we will link this information off-site, so our community can source this information from sites dedicated to it. For sites who do offer these services, check our links page.

Featured Dungeon

The Serpent of Sihari

Name: The Serpent of Sihari
Level Range: 8-11
Chunk: Lomshir
Continent: Qalia
Theme: Shipwreck
Rating: B

The Serpent of Sihari is an innocuous looking shipwreck on the beach just outside of Lomshir. A few scraggly undead totter their way around it. If you peek inside you see about what you expect to. Some tougher undead amid the wreckage of an old ship. All too many people move on from there and never discover what the Serpent truly hides-one of the most spectacular low level dungeons in the game.

The real reason to do the Serpent of Sihari is the nature of the dungeon itself. The atmosphere is top notch, the dungeon is beautiful and really gives low level characters the feel of conquering a significant evil. Possibly more than any other low level dungeon, Sihari captures the essence of discovery and adventure and should be on the 'must see' list of every dungeoneer worth the title.
